Horsey fun day!

Go grab a cup of coffee,
(I had to in order to write this.)
I'm gonna tell you a story
about two little kids
that I hope, have horses in their soul!
(Thanks to me, GRAMA!)
For a week, Briann has been talking about
"riding horsey's"
and not the ole Wal-Mart kind either.
For all my efforts of getting Briann to love horses,
It took a FAIR PONY to
install the "love" portion of the almighty equine!
She Loved that pony ride.
Of course 'nana' had to see her ride, and bought her
and extra ticket!
So something reminded her of riding, and all she could do is
talk about it.
So, Saturday
Briann and Cody, (her older brother) came out
with their parents.
I asked Briann if she wanted to ride Libby, and
I had to run to keep up with her going out to the pasture.
She patiently watched me saddle her up.
and the minute I got her in the saddle,
she was ear to ear grin!
(I don't have a childs helmet and so she is wearing mine,
because some protection is better than none!)
I walked her around,

and around,
and around.
Posed for some pictures.
Had to talk her leg off, to get her to agree to let her brother ride too.
 See this child?
Look at those stirrups!
One more inch and his legs will be as long as mine!

At this point, Libby was following so well.
She was being such a good girl.
So I took the lead rope off.
She followed me as if I still had it.

Back and forth,
Right and left.
She stayed right with me.
Then on the way back to the gate,
I got a hair brained idea to see if she would trot if I ran.
SHE DID!
I was not worried about Cody falling off.
He has ridden before,
and he had a foot in each stirrup and a hold of the horn.
AND....Libby has a soft trot!

He started laughing so hard!
The joy in him melted my heart!
I did this several times across the pasture,
because Cody kept saying
"Trot some more! That was FUN!"
And he sat his seat well.
I think he will be a natural!
Look at that grin!
Pose once more!
Finally, "I" was getting bored with the pasture,
so we decided to take a walk.....
Had to stop and show off for Papa....
Enjoying our time together.

This day,
I had just as much fun as the kids.
(No, "I" did not get to ride
but that did not matter!)

After I got Libby to trot with Cody,
I tried it out with Briann.
For the life of me,
no matter how much I clucked and ran ahead,
Libby looked at me...
and said:
"No way am I trotting with this precious cargo!"

Libby is worth her weight in gold!
(Well I knew she was before this).

After Cody and I got back to the pasture,
I WAS BEAT!
So I turned him loose on Libby.
He guided her around, and
gently squeezed to make her walk.
I kept an eye on him,
gave him some pointers
(from my lesson days)
and since
she neck reins, his slightest
movement to turn her worked.
I had a halter on her because
I did not want him accidently hurting her mouth with a bit.
I need not of worried because
He was ever so gentle with her.

When Libby was all done giving rides,
I unsaddled her and
whenever we ride,
we go to the lean to to get some treats.
So I did not want her loose with two little kids around.
"IDEA"....
I put Briann on bareback.
I put Cody on behind Briann.
Libby walked ever so gently with those two kids
on her, bareback.
It was awesome!
I had, "mom" walk along side
just in case anything were to happen,
she could grab each kid by an arm.
But I should not have worried.
So no pics of both kids on her.

 Yes, I am blessed.
I thank God every night I go to bed,
that I am able to finally have a horse,
to be able to enjoy her to the fullest extent
with my grand kids!

Now to get Parker on the horse!

Riding on a cloud!

Today was Umatilla Sage Riders PLAY DAY!

I went to "help" out.
I had no idea what happens during a play day,
so I am here to volunteer my time and check things out.

Meet CISCO!
Cisco came to check things out too.
But he wanted to play!
I wanted to play!
He is an 18 year old 'been there' 'done that' horse.
Riding him was offered to me and
I thought why not!
Everyone else looked like they were have a grand time,
and I might as well try it out.
My first pictures between the ears!
I am only sad they are not from Libby.
 But Cisco will do!
He is a grand horse!
The gal in the Helmet was the one that brought him.

Yes, Next time they will be Libby's ears.
Here we are competing in the KEY HOLE race.
Going out to the figure eight race.
Looks like we are walking, but we actually trotted around them poles!
And after each event, we galloped back!
Did I say GALLOP?
Yes, Mr. Cisco knew EXACTLY what he was to do!
Get to that finish line!

We did FOUR events...

Pole Bending
Key Hole Race
Stake Race
and the
Figure Eight.
Ms. L, did not know if he had been gamed on,
as she uses him out in the pasture,
On a Cattle Ranch,
to go round up her other two horses that
graze on 40 acres.
If Cisco were for sale?
Well you know where he would be living!
Libby would have a brother! :))

Oh yeah,
I almost forgot....
I even won
5th place
in the
KEY HOLE
competition!
I have the most beautiful PINK ribbon to show off!

Yes, Today I Was Riding On
CLOUD NINE!

Girls.....!!!

Briann is our only Granddaughter.
She is a cutie Patootie!
This was "wild Hair" day.

I bought a big jar of beads while on vacation to the coast
this past spring,
and they have gotten their five bucks
of use from them
BOTH Parker and Briann love playing with them.
And, this is Briann's dad,
(Our oldest son.)

Rideing with Libby

Last weekend,
(sorry for the delay in the post)
I saddled up Libby and we went for a stroll.
I had to beg hubby to take some pictures, but I did not
know he was standing behind the tree photographing the
saddling process.
(Look How High I Lifted that Saddle! LOL
HONEST I did not let it plop on her!)
Libby is so patient with me.
She even will move closer if she thinks she needs to.
Wrapping the mecate reins around the horn so she won't step on it.
Ready to go ride...

Oops, had my sun glasses on. Took them off.
Riding up the lane.

Over to the left and in the neighbors pasture.
New Ride.
New Territory!
What hubby did not get,
was...
Libby had to stop and smell
about half a dozen cow patties when
we first rode in this area!

Posing before heading down the hill to the OTHER
neighbors field to ride.

After the ride, she gets treats.
But they are not free.
She has to bend to get them.
Each time she will stretch just a little bit more.
Yes, Libby is a sweetie!
I love her dearly!
And I can't wait to come home from work
saddle her and go for a "WALK IN THE PARK!"

My dream really has come true!

Boy oh Boy!

With my new camera I am still learning how to use all the settings.
My Daughter-in-law helps me a lot with them.
So I was experimenting,
and Parker was the subject.
This setting is one where it makes everything black and white
except for a color you choose.
I can't see well without my glasses,
so I usually am just pointing and shooting.
(I take a lot of pictures,
you know,
just in case!)
I had to talk my head off to get him to even look at me!
He was so interested in playing with the grass.
So when I down loaded them, I about fell out of my chair
when I saw that he has red lips!
I know you can photo shop it out, but
time and knowledge are of the essence.
(I don't have time to LEARN how to photo shop it!) LOL
And here he is with Daddy...
(Our Youngest son)
Pretending to drive!
He got to sit till "mom" got in the truck
and did not even cry and throw a fit
when it was time for him to get in his car seat
when they were ready to leave!
W.O.W.!
